January Flew By

Holy Cow, we have been living in ERV for over a month now, and I haven't taken the time to post any news. We arrived in FL on Jan 7th, and enjoyed a few days at Wallaby Ranch. Then we proceeded to Sebring FL for the Air Expo weekend there. It was windy and cold, most of the time, plus there was racing at the Sebring Speedway that same weekend, so the sound was kind of deafening. Managed to have a good show, however, so that was great.

After Sebring we went to Daytona Beach/Port Orange, where our friends Bill and Lydia have a condo on the beach. We camped there for about 2 weeks and enjoyed lots of lunches at beach bars and hanging out at the condo. We did a couple of tourist things, like going to Blue Springs to see the manatee colony who winter in the St John's River, and the fresh water Blue Springs. It was beautiful. I took a few pictures worth showing, so I'll post them next. One is of a lone manatee making it's way down the Spring. There were 167 manatee's at Blue Springs when we were there. We saw about 30 all together. Notice the propeller scars on the manatee's back. It's a big problem, propellers, injuring the manatees.

The other picture is of Lydia, Jaimie, Dennis and Mara, some of our Chicago friends. We walked the boardwalk all along the Spring, the water was crystal clear.

Since we left Daytona we have been camping near Titusville FL. We were able to view the space shuttle launch on February 7th. Here is a picture:

I also went on a tour of Blackpoint Wildlife Refuge, on Merritt Island. It was overcast that day, but there were lots of birds and beautiful marshes and mangrove forests. I took a few pictures, this is the best one:

That's about all for now. We'll be in Cancun next week, so when we get back from there I'll try to post a few pictures from the Mexican Riviera. Take care.

Hey Randee (and Dan and Doc),

It's great to hear from you and see some of the places where you've been traveling.

You, Dan, and Doc all look so healthy and happy. That one picture of Doc really does look like he's grinning from ear to ear. That's a definite keeper.

When will you be coming back to the frigid north? You missed out on some -15 degree weather, with -35 degree windchills this past week. Those are the times that I'm really happy for condo living and underground, heated parking! I'm sure that those are the times when y'all are happy for Florida and Cancun!

I'm planning a trip to visit some friends in Missouri and Oklahoma next month, and borrowing my brother's camper. It's a truck with a camper topper, and nothing like ERV, but comfortable enough for a couple of weeks. I'll be happy to get back to my own bed by then.

I'll send you a couple of pics by email, and will be looking forward to the next blog from you.

Take care. Hugs, Sheryl
